SELF-DRIVE : KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa

SCHEDULE:

Step into the wild heart of Kruger National Park, where every sunrise holds the promise of lion tracks on dusty roads, leopards draped in riverine trees, and elephants gathering at waterholes. This 6-day self-drive adventure takes you through Kruger’s most iconic regions — the lush Sabie River valleys around Skukuza and Lower Sabie, and the vast open plains of Satara, famed for its big cats and dramatic savanna scenery. Your journey begins with an arrival at Skukuza and an easy introduction drive, followed by a full day along the wildlife-rich river corridor to Lower Sabie. From there, you’ll head north to Satara for two nights in classic predator territory, exploring routes like the legendary S100. After immersing yourself in the central plains, you’ll drift back south toward Skukuza for one last night, before closing your adventure with a final sunrise drive and departure from Skukuza Airport.

DESCRIPTION:

This 6-day self-drive safari is designed for guests who want the freedom of exploring Kruger National Park at their own pace, while benefitting from the expertise of a seasoned travel advisor & photographer.

The route balances the south’s dense riverine areas (Skukuza/Lower Sabie)—famous for leopard, lion, and wild dog—with the central Satara plains, classic open savanna where cheetah, lion prides, and large herds dominate.

You’ll stay in comfortable SANParks rest camp rondavels/bungalows, fully equipped with en-suite facilities and self-catering kitchens. Each camp has a shop, fuel, and restaurant.

Your dedicated advisor-photographer will travel with you, helping optimise daily routes based on recent sightings, sharing tips on animal behaviour, and guiding you in wildlife photography. Evening braais (barbecues) under the stars complete the Kruger atmosphere.

For those who wish to extend, a Panorama Route & Blyde Canyon add-on can be added at the start (if flying into Johannesburg). This covers iconic natural wonders like God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and the Three Rondavels before entering Kruger through Phabeni Gate/Paul Kruger Gate.

PRICE INCLUDES:
